FAQ

Have a question about our services? Following is a list of frequently asked questions to help you.

For Students

How does the process work?

Our process for helping you find an answer is simple. Begin by creating a student account to gain access. You then are able to type your question to search our database to see if your question is already answered. If you can’t find an answer in our database, you can then post your question for qualified tutors to respond with their answers. You are given a brief sample of each tutors answer, in which you can decide which one offers the best solution.

Who do I pay?

All transactions are done through Student Helpmate, LLC. There are no fees for a student to use studenthelpmate.com, other than the costs associated with purchasing answers. We offer payment directly through our website with use of a credit card or you can use a PayPal account.

Is your site secure?

Yes! All sensitive information is protected by SSL encryption for your safety and peace of mind.

What if I pay for an answer that doesn’t answer my question?

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee answers given by our tutors. We do not issue refunds, as long as answers are given in good faith. If you need an explanation beyond what the tutor provided, you can arrange a commissioned, real-time chat session with the tutor.

For Tutors

How does the process work?

After registering as a tutor and getting approved, you will be notified via email if a question is asked within your area(s) of expertise. If you answer the question, you get to associate your own fees! If a student member accepts your answer, your compensation will be deposited into your PayPal account, minus the fees for Student Helpmate, LLC. After you answer a question, your solution does not go away. You continually earn money on your answer when student members purchase your answer from our database.

How do tutors post their own tutorials to build a portfolio?

Our process allowing tutor’s to upload their own tutorials is simple. Begin by creating a tutor account to gain access. You then are directed to your Dashboard. On the left hand side click on the link titled “Upload Tutorial”. Here you can type a title and description of your tutorial. Once your tutorial is posted it is then loaded into the database. Students are then able to search our database for previously uploaded material.

How does the real-time chat work?

Currently, our real-time chat program works on the “honor system.” It is the responsibility of the tutor and student member to designate cost and timing prior to the chat. Payment is secured prior to the chat, however, tutors and student members regulate their pre-determined time frame.

How do I get paid?

You can get paid three different ways:

  1. Answering a question posed by student member upon their acceptance
  2. A student member purchasing an answer from our database that you authored
  3. Participating in a real-time chat session

All earnings are deposited into the tutor’s PayPal account. To establish an account, visit the PayPal website.

Tutors are compensated within 30 days of each transaction. A minimum balance of $10.00 must accrue within each payment period, otherwise earnings totaling less than $10.00 are held in escrow until the requirement is met.

What are the fees?

Currently, Student Helpmate, LLC collects the following commissions per transaction:

As the cost of conducting business fluctuates, these fees are subject to change at any time.

Is your site secure?

Yes! All sensitive information is protected by SSL encryption for your safety and peace of mind.

General

How do I create an account?

  1. At the top right corner of the page follow the link that says “Sign Up/Login”.
  2. Choose whether to be a Student or a Tutor. Students can ask and purchase answers to questions. Tutors can ask and purchase answers to questions but can also post responses to other student’s questions for payment. All responses must be the original work of the tutors and re-selling answers provided by others is strictly prohibited and considered plagiarism.
  3. Enter your demographic information: First and Last Name, E-mail Address, and Telephone Number.
  4. Read and check the box that you agree to the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.
  5. Click on the “Create My Account” button.

How do I edit my account information?

  1. From the Main page located at www.studenthelpmate.com select the tab near the top center of the page. Click on the tab/link to the “Edit Account” area of the site.
  2. You will recognize the look of this page as almost identical to the page you filled out when you originally signed up for the site. Now that you are securely logged in to your account this page simply allows you to enter new information which will replace your previous information.
  3. This is also the page where you can change from Student to Tutor in our system.

What happens if I choose to close my account?

  1. Along with editing your account you may also choose to close your account. It is important that you understand the implications of use of the site and what happens if you choose to close your account. From the “Edit Account” page you will have the option to close your account. As a student closing of your account forfeits your rights to access your purchased tutorials. You probably already have them in a saved format but closing your account will remove your ability to download that paid tutorial at a later date.
  2. As a Tutor, closing of your account will forfeit your rights to accrued balances and any tutorials that have been posted become the property of the website www.StudentHelpmate.com. This is in keeping with standard internet blogging and publishing practices.
  3. If there is a security issue or a business concern of our students or tutors we encourage you to contact us prior to cancelling your account to see if another measure would secure your questions and answers administratively rather than simply cancelling your account. We are unable to recover data when your account is cancelled but perhaps we could assist you in changing or creating a new account to transfer information rather than “closing” the account.
  4. If you do choose to close your account, be sure to withdraw any standing account balance prior to closing the account. Once you close the account we cannot recover your account status.
